Kombucha Whiskey Cocktails

To celebrate this year’s transition into a new one, I have prepared two festive kombucha cocktails for you to enjoy with your friends and family as the clock hits midnight. The lovely combination of whiskey, fruit, and kombucha come together in one tasty drink that is full of life and good energies.

I wanted to craft a beverage that, unlike other beverages, is both good for you and tasty. Kombucha, a fermented, effervescent drink is the perfect New Year’s Eve drink. Full of live cultures, enzymes, and detoxifying properties, kombucha is tasty, sweet, and tangy. An early start to whatever resolutions you have lined up for this coming year.

Pomegranate Kombucha Cocktail

Serves 1

  • 4 oz. Kombucha
  • 2 oz. whiskey of choice
  • Seeds of ¼ of a pomegranate
  • Several ice cubes

To remove seeds, slice pomegranate in quarters. Gently scoop seeds into a bowl by using a spoon. To protect counter, and yourself, use a kitchen cloth on the counter and wear an apron, pomegranates are very messy! Place seeds on a glass and pour whiskey and kombucha. When ready to serve, add ice cubes.

Minty Lime Kombucha Cocktail

Serves 1

  • 4 oz. Kombucha
  • 2 oz. whiskey of choice
  • 5-6 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/8 tsp. agave, or more to taste.
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Several ice cubes

Thinly slice mint leaves. Place in bottom of serving glass with juice of half a lemon and several drops of agave. Using a mortar mash for several seconds. Add Kombucha and whiskey. When ready to serve, add ice cubes.
